Today, we will look into the
history of Korea’s Smart City following the Smart City Strategy of Korea.
The second strategy is to establish
the basic infrastructure
for a smart city.
Korea is currently working on
national R&D program for smart cities based on data and AI . This plan is to invest a total of
130 million dollars for five years from 2018.
This project consists of three
phases
The
first one is data
model and hub technologies.
And
the second and third are experiments on diverse solution in
two places, Daegu and Siheung based on first R&D outcomes.
For R&D project, a total of 76 universities, companies and research institutions take part
led by the major company like SKT
and KT.
The goal is to spread this basic platform to a total of 229 local governments by 2023.
There is also a plan to diversify aligned
public services that are provided by using the platform.
The human resources is also important.
We will provide scholarships and internships for students majoring in smart cities
in
partnership with six universities in Korea
