Many local governments in Korea have
formed task force teams to pursue various Smart City related projects.
As of June 2019, 78 municipalities
across the country have established task force such as Smart City departments
and teams, and the number is increasing rapidly in recent years. There are some
60 local governments that are promoting government funded smart city projects.

Smart services and business types
are also diversifying.
In 2014, two sectors, including
crime/disaster prevention (35%), accounted for 67%. However, recently, it is
diversified with 24% of crime/disaster prevention, 22% of transportation, 15%
of administration, 15% of environment, energy and water resources, 8% of
facility management and 7% of health and welfare.
